Walking with a toddler is such an education! Being in a hurry is a vice amplification field — that’s just one of the lessons I’ve learned.

Absolutely. It's a great perspective, makes me more aware of so many of my own behaviors too.

Anytime I make the mistake of feeling young, my coworkers (several of whom were born after I was hired) say something to remind me I'm much closer to Pizza Guy than I am to my youth.

Definitely true...there's an inverse glass-half-full version of that too but it's less convincing after a certain age, lol

I am 64. Many colleagues in my age range are the cranky, “the world was better when I was young” types. I am not one to shut down those who complain but this kind of chatter is useless, a scratched record (and, yes, one of those eternal complaints is music nowadays is crap). I agree it’s in part to do with not being young anymore, but I’ve concluded that most simply feel the world has left them behind while it changes and occasionally progresses. Just like when they (and I) were young and happy with the changes happening in our time.

This world doesn’t belong to me. Power to the younger generations making it their own and hopefully better.

Yeah, this is all true. It's hard to keep up. Feels like change has accelerated the past few decades too, but maybe people have always felt that way.
